After a frustrating loss to Paola on Friday in semi-final action, the Lady Crusaders and Labette County were slated for battle in the consolation 3rd place contest Saturday at noon at the STATE 4A DIV 1 GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT in Salina at the Bicentennial Center. No one knew when this third place game got underway, it would be tied 6 times and the lead would change 10 times before an exciting ending for the girls in red as the buzzer sounded.
The Wellington Lady-Crusader basketball team boarded a bus headed for Salina and the 4A Div. I State Tournament on Wednesday morning at WHS.
Music was played by the high school pep band, and the entire student body was on hand. Students from Kennedy Elementary even made the trek to WHS to make sure the state send-off was extra awesome.
Watch video from the pep rally above.
Wellington will take on DeSoto to open the state tournament at 3 p.m. Listen to the local radio broadcast on local cable channel 5.
