Starting their three-game road trip in Bethany to open Jayhawk League play was Wellington with a 10-5 victory. Jayden Eggimann continued his early-season hot streak on June 7. The outfielder from Valparaiso University went 2/3 at the plate, drove in five runs and scored three himself.
Wellington is 4-2 after two weeks of play, the Heat went 1-1 against against the Denver Cougars, winning 5-0 on June 3, then falling 6-3 on June 4. In the third of the three-game home stand, Wellington beat the Salina Blue Jays 17-5.

The Wellington Heat are 2-1 after the slate of opening-weekend games at Hibbs-Hooten Field.
After Saturday's opening night win against the Valley Center Diamond Dawgs, the Heat secured an encore victory on Sunday, May 29 against V.C. Final score 6-5.
The Wellington Heat 2016 baseball season began in blowout fashion for the home team, with a 15-4 win over the Valley Center Diamond Dawgs at Hibbs-Hooten Field on May 28.
Wellington jumped out to a four run lead after the first, crossing the plate five times thanks to a barrage of Heat bats. It was 5-1 Wellington after one.
They added two more in the third, four in the fifth, four in the seventh making the score 15-4 headed into the eighth. As a team Wellington had 16 hits, and no errors. Valley Center had five hits and two errors.
The WHS Track Team was in action on Thursday in Winfield (Southwestern College) at the 4A Regional Track & Field Meet! The Top 4 finishers in each event would qualify for State 4A competition next weekend at Wichita State University.
The weather was wet and dreary but the outcomes just a little brighter for the WHS participants. "7" Crusaders qualified for next weekend's "BIG SHOW" @ WSU in "3" different events.
The WHS SPORTS ASSEMBLY was held this morning out at WHS - featuring many of the teams and coaches from throughout the 2015-2016 school year. Donuts and Juice were provided for the spectators and participants.
