With it being the holiday season, not everyone can afford gifts for their children. The Wellington Noon Lions Club is collecting toy donations and money to help out.
For anyone that needs assistance, forms can be picked up at the Sumner County CASA office, 120 E. 9th, or at Jane Cole's Famer Insurance Office, 118 E. Harvey, and returned no later than noon on Dec. 15.
Beginning today (Dec.3) in Wellington is the Holiday Open House event, that will run through Sunday, Dec. 6. Local businesses across town are inviting people in to see what they have to offer. It's a chance to look local, shop local and eat local, plus much more.
The bloodmobile will make a stop in Wellington this week. However, their schedule will be a bit different this time.
Instead of Friday like usual, the blood drive will be on Wednesday, Nov 25 due to the Thanksgiving. The time is a little different also. They will be open from 9 am to 3 pm.
However, it will take place at the usual location, the Knights of Columbus Hall at 201 E Harvey.
Walk-ins are always welcome, but if you would like to make an appointment you can do so by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.

Once you fill out the form , you can return it in person to the chamber of mail it to them at PO Box 686 Wellington, KS 67152.
There's plenty of items on the local calendar this evening.
First it's the 2015 Homecoming Parade in downtown Wellington, that gets underway at 6:30 p.m. A community pep rally will follow in heritage park. Students from across the school district will be involved. All of it will lead up to the big football game Friday night followed by all the Fall Festival activities this weekend.
