Disruptive defense by the Lady-Crusaders ruined Clearwater's night early and often as Wellington cruises to 8-0 on Tuesday night with a 60-23 win.

Just how dominant was that defense? The Lady-Indians' second field goal came with 5:45 left in the first half.

In the very early goings it looked like it was going to be a defensive game for both teams. Wellington was able to pluck the ball away from CHS multiple times in the first quarter, but couldn't capitalize on those turnovers.

T-birds? More like Three-birds as Wellington couldn't find the right gear to keep pace at Circle on Jan. 8. Wellington falls to 2-5 on the season with at 82-75 loss Friday in a tale of two halves.

The Crusaders quickly found themselves down by 10 points, thanks to five three's by four Circle players in the first quarter. At the end of one, the Thunderbirds lead 29-18.

A 7-0 start didn't look likely for the Lady-Crusaders as the game unfolded at Circle on Jan. 8, but looks can be deceiving. Wellington tops the T-birds 51-47, Avery Rusk went 5-6 from the free-throw line in the closing minute of the game to get the lead, and then seal the win.

It wasn't a pretty start for the Ladies in Red. There was no rhythm on offense, and Circle was able to capitalize on their possessions.

After the game, Head Coach Eric Adams said it was the most complete game by far his Lady Crusaders have played as they advance to 5-0 on the season in Mulvane on December 18 with a 67-32 victory.

The defense shined, taking the ball away 22 times. Adams said that's right where the team wants to be in that department. He said after the last outing, the team focused heavily on defense in their preparation for the Lady Wildcats.
