The MID AMERICA CLASSIC Girls Basketball Tournament in McPherson has been over for nearly 72 hours now, and tournament officials are still sending out information from the annual event.
To bring everyone up to speed, the Lady Crusaders participated in the MAC at McPherson for the first time this year. It is a well respected tournament and showcases many strong teams each year. This year, the 24th, was no different.
In the end, the Lady Crusaders went 1-2 and finished 7th, still left their mark(s) on the tournament, including being awarded the tournament's "John Watkins Sportsmanship Award". We should all be very proud of these girls, their coaches and the fans in attendance. The McPherson Roundhouse is a marvelous facility, to be judged sportsmanlike over all others present, makes ya proud. Way to represent Wellington.
Here are the final standings and the Post-MAC records:
1st McPherson 11-1
2nd Olathe South 10-1
3rd Manhattan 10-4
4th Ulysses 9-3
5th Wichita SE 6-7
6th Valley Center 2-10
7th Wellington 8-5
8th Dodge City 5-7
The Lady Crusaders lost to Manhattan in their opener, 81-51, lost to Valley Center on Friday, 55-43, and then on final day 3, the Ladies pulled out a nail-biter vs Dodge City, winning 34-33, when DC missed the front end of a 1 and 1 with just 2 seconds to go.
